The Fear of Starting II (The fear starts going...
A couple of months ago I decided I wanted to open my own business something I was passionate about. I ended up doing 2 businesses. I resumed my consulting business and started a educational service that mixes off-line and on-line classes. At that time there was a lot of uncertainty and fear. The fear that took over me was the ‘What if I fail?’ type of fear. Now, two months later we have...

What is Community?
via youtube.com This presentation was fun and made a lot of meaning. A community is something that lies within ourselves as humans. There’s no such thing as “creating a community for” the community already exists around something you just give them the tools to be together, or create something that the community wants so they can gather around your product. Wolfram Alpha Miscalculates What Its iPhone App...
via techcrunch.com In my last post I wrote about why charging the same as the original app for the upgrade was not such a good idea. Now I see that pricing is one of the main problems of the iPhone app store. I don’t know why is this, but price is a very important item when deciding to buy an app or not. Pricing will make an app feel cool or like a rip-off if not done correctly. Do you...

The Apps Upgrade Dilemma
I was reading this post by Robert Scoble about people not wanting to buy the new Tweetie and rating it with one star for the fact they had to pay for it. I took an approach to this problem by trying to position myself in the mind of the people that are sour because they have to pay for an upgrade.  I came up with the conclusion that they are not sour because they have to pay for the upgrade, but...

Microsoft validates Apple's strategy
I was carefully watching Microsoft’s Laptop Hunters Series and listening to the comments the hunters made while looking for the computer that will fit all their needs. In most of the cases they say they need a computer that does the work, but it’s cheap and has good performance. Of course this sounds great, specially in this economy. Microsoft reasoning goes like this: Bad...

The Fear of Starting
Earlier in the year i got an internship in a local bank and started to think what i wanted for the future of my career. I thought of what would it be like if i stayed to work full time at the bank or get another fulltime job in a different industry. Being a Business Administration student there is a myriad of industries that you can work in so chosing was not a difficult task to me, but as...

Kathy Sierra's 10 awesome points
I found this Kathy Sierra keynote while searching on youtube today. I found the 10 points she mentions very helpful as I am developing and education product for one of the startups   I’m working on. Although she focuses on programmers in her examples I think what it’s really great is that those 10 points apply to almost anything. I will work on using them to develop my product and let...

Are we taking ourselves too seriously?
So I’ve been watching lot’s of videos, reading lot’s of books and listening to advice on what to do with out time. How it’s important to plan every footstep we take to go forward and how not to lose time. I agree that having a plan and goals will take you there, but only if you start to make them real. We tend to plan everything, from our work interviews to our weekends....
